There comes a time in every child's life, when they want to get a move on with things. Thus far, the environment at home has been satisfying, but now the child's instincts are in pursuit of wider horizons. There's a desire to break away from routine. Like getting to know other children of their age, explore, play and develop new relationships. Encouraging signs, these. Most however, have problems in communicating; understanding things; as they grapple with new approaches trying to figure out the 'whys'. School, therefore, becomes the important 'next step'.
The focus at 'Stepping Stones' is holistic - the overall development of the child. The preschool prepares children to think, speak, read and comprehend better. The programme is integrated such that it includes activities to develop language and literacy skills, basic number concepts, simple science concepts, social skills, creative and problem solving skills, appreciation of music, physical education and outdoor play. Significantly, classes are not oversized – just restricted to about 20 children per class – which makes the environment caring. Perhaps why the likes of Aviral were quick to learn.
Striking the right chord with these young children are Seetha Krishnaraj and Satish Krishnaraj, the school founders. They lived in the US for over a decade, where Seetha gained valuable experience teaching at a prestigious school and hence, the emphasis at 'Stepping Stones' isn't just on the academics, but on a programme that is innovative and at the same time relevant to the child's personality development.
In practical terms the success outcomes of the first steps at 'Stepping Stones' are pretty obvious. Parents have witnessed a remarkable change in their child's attitude and behavior. Their confidence levels were extremely high; their communications skills vastly improved. |
