Silent Waters Retreat is not exactly a hotel. It comprises of 11 exclusive cottages and is designed to ensure your privacy is not intruded upon. Nested amongst natural greenery, each cottage is self-contained with pleasant interiors, comfortable beds, cable TV (45 channels), attached bath with 24-hours hot and cold water.

The beauty about this cozy retreat is that it's designed to make you appreciate nature. For instance, there are some 100-odd different varieties of trees and plants within this 1 acre property, such as figs, pepper, lichies, mangos, to name a few. Meander along the many pathways, find yourself a hammock or a rock to relax on, choose your quiet spot, sit just about anywhere and breathe fresh country air.

At Silent Waters Retreat food is never a problem. In fact, the main course dishes are specially cooked in a home and that means you can be assured of food that's tasty, hygienic and of good quality. You'll never feel you are away from home. You have a wide range of dishes on the 'Daily Menu' for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So, pamper your taste buds as much as you wish.

How to get to Silent Waters Retreat
From Bangalore, get on to Hosur Road (NH7) and head towards Krishnagiri. The 4-lane National Highway is excellent and you should make it in less than 2 hours (crazy driving will get you elsewhere). At Krishnagiri, there's a toll-gate manned by the National Highways Authority. Pay your and at the second flyover (don't go over the flyover), take the service road towards the left. This road goes to Chennai. Turn left and for the next hour or so (approx. 50 kilometers), drive on NH46. You'll come to another toll-station. Pay and drive for a few minutes till you see Vanni Matriculation Higher Secondary School. Further up you'll see a sign 'Elagiri'(36 kms) indicated by a 'U' turn arrow (careful not to miss this sign) and that you need to keep left, take the 'U' turn, go under the bridge and on to the road towards Thirupatthur. That's the road you need to get on to. Drive for about 7 kilometers (you'll see the winding road that leads up to the hills to your left). On the left, you'll see a big sign board 'Tamilnadu Tourism Department Welcomes You'. Turn left at this junction, there's a sign board pointing towards Yelagiri.

Fourteen hairpin bends and about half hour or so of driving uphill, you are in Athanur town. Just follow the main road as it twists and turns, pass the market area and continue towards Mangalam Village. A kilometer away is your landmark, the 'Don Bosco Camp Centre' and opposite that is Silent Waters Retreat. You're home.

IMPORTANT
BSNL is the only cell phone that works here on the hill. STD/ ISD facilities are available at the Retreat.

As there are no gas stations on the hill, make sure your tank is filled before you climb the ghat section.
